Skate is a paraquat herbicide from Agritas. It is a contact killer, not a systemic one: it burns down every green leaf the spray lands on and does not travel into the roots, so perennial weeds regrow from underground. It is used to clear ground before sowing, between rows, and as a desiccant.

Mode of action
Paraquat is a fast-acting, non-selective contact herbicide that is absorbed by the foliage. It destroys plant tissue by disrupting photosynthesis and rupturing cell membranes, which allows water to escape leading to rapid desiccation of foliage.
Dose & application
Paraquat is used as herbicide, desiccant, defoliant, and plant growth regulator. It is used for controlling broadleaf weeds and grasses in more than 100 different crops, including plantations.

Why it pays
Contact action means speed, and nothing left in the soil to hurt the next crop — paraquat locks onto clay the moment it touches the ground and stops working there, so you can sow behind it. What it will not do is kill a perennial root. Deela and lehli come back from below, and repeated burn-downs are not the same as killing them.
Field tips
Aim low and keep the spray off the crop: anything green it touches burns, including your own plants and the neighbour's. Fit a flat-fan or flood-jet tip rather than a cone, hold the lance at one steady height, and bring each pass up to the edge of the last without going back over ground you have already done. It only works in light, so a spray put on at night simply starts at sunrise — and fast browning is not the same as a better kill, so evening or early morning, out of the midday heat, usually works better than full sun. Rain soon after spraying reduces it. Wash the tank out thoroughly before anything else goes in.
Safety
Treat this as the most dangerous thing in the store. Swallowing even a mouthful of paraquat kills, there is no antidote, and hospital treatment usually fails.
If anyone swallows it: do NOT make them vomit. Go to hospital at once and take the container. The odds are bad, but the only treatment that helps at all works in the first minutes, so never decide it is too late. And do not stop treatment because the person seems better — someone who has swallowed paraquat can look recovered for several days and then die of lung damage over the following weeks.
If it splashes in an eye, flush with clean running water for at least fifteen minutes and go to hospital; paraquat in the eye can destroy sight.
It goes through skin, not only through cuts. A leaking knapsack soaking your back, or trousers left on wet, has killed sprayers with no wound at all. Change soaked clothing immediately and wash the skin. Wear gloves, boots, long sleeves and eye protection.
Keep it locked away from everyone, not only from children — in this region most paraquat deaths are people who took it deliberately, and an unlocked store is what makes that possible. Never decant it into a drink bottle or any unlabelled container; that one mistake kills more people by accident than anything else about this product. Never re-use the empty container for anything at all.

آنکھ میں پڑ جائے تو کم از کم پندرہ منٹ صاف بہتے پانی سے دھوئیں اور ہسپتال جائیں؛ آنکھ میں پیراکوایٹ بینائی ختم کر سکتی ہے۔
یہ جلد سے بھی اندر جاتی ہے، صرف زخم سے نہیں۔ ٹپکتا ہوا سپرے پمپ جو کمر بھگو دے، یا گیلی پتلون پہنے رہنا — اِن سے بغیر کسی زخم کے سپرے کرنے والے مر چکے ہیں۔ بھیگے کپڑے فوراً بدلیں اور جلد دھو لیں۔ دستانے، بوٹ، پورے بازو اور آنکھوں کی حفاظت پہنیں۔
اسے سب سے دور، تالے میں رکھیں، صرف بچوں سے نہیں — اِس علاقے میں پیراکوایٹ سے ہونے والی زیادہ تر اموات جان بوجھ کر پینے سے ہوتی ہیں، اور کھلا سٹور ہی یہ ممکن بناتا ہے۔ اسے کبھی کسی پینے کی بوتل یا بغیر لیبل والے برتن میں نہ ڈالیں؛ حادثاتی طور پر لوگ سب سے زیادہ اِسی ایک غلطی سے مرتے ہیں۔ خالی ڈبہ کبھی کسی کام کے لیے دوبارہ استعمال نہ کریں۔
