Low spreading weed with thick fleshy reddish stems and small purple-pink flowers, forming dense mats after monsoon rain. It holds moisture at the soil surface and harbours whitefly and mites.
How to scout
Check field edges and irrigation channels after monsoon rain — it starts there and moves inward.
Action threshold: Remove it early, before it mats. Clearing it from field edges also removes a whitefly reservoir feeding your cotton.
