Downy Mildew
Pale yellow angular patches on the upper leaf surface, bounded by the veins, with a grey-purple furry growth underneath in humid mornings. It needs leaf wetness to infect, so it follows dew, fog and overhead irrigation.
How to scout
Turn leaves over early in the morning. The furry growth on the underside disappears once the sun dries the crop.
Action threshold: Apply a protectant before a forecast damp spell, and avoid irrigating in a way that keeps leaves wet overnight.
