Leaf Blight

This is a fungus disease of the leaves. It makes long, grey-green, boat or cigar shaped patches that start on the lower leaves and climb upward. If it reaches the leaves around the cob before flowering, the leaves dry early and the grain stays light and poorly filled.

How to scout

After a spell of humid, cloudy weather, check the lower leaves of ten plants at five places for long boat-shaped grey patches.
