Eco Rich

Overview

Eco Rich goes into the land, not onto the crop. It is a soil conditioner from Agritas — 25% organic matter at a low carbon-to-nitrogen ratio, so it breaks down without robbing the crop of nitrogen while it does it. It is for tired, hard, low-organic-matter ground, and it is neither a fertiliser nor a pesticide.

Why it pays

Most of the land this goes onto has been cropped hard for decades with nothing put back. Organic matter is what holds water between irrigations, stops a seedbed setting like brick after rain, and gives the soil something to hold nutrients against. The exchange capacity figure on the bag is the material's own; what the soil gains is a share of it, in proportion to how much goes in. None of that shows in the first month, and it builds only where organic matter goes back into the land season after season rather than once.

Field tips

Work it into the soil at land preparation rather than spreading it on the surface, where it dries out and does little. Judge it over seasons, not weeks — a single bag across an acre is a small share of the plough layer, and the gain comes from repetition.

Safety

A bulky soil amendment, handled like any other bag of soil input. Keep it dry until it goes in, wear gloves and a dust mask while spreading, and wash afterwards. Nothing here is sprayed, and there is no pre-harvest interval.
